Troy Online, a Greek myth-tinged MMO that went through beta testings earlier on May, has finally made its official launch on August 19th by ALT1 Games. And long-waited players are finally able to download it and play for free.
As a fantasy role-playing game, Troy Online sets its background in the epic Trojan War between Greece and Troy. Players will find themselves wake up in an unknown beach in the mysterious land of Autis, with a blank mind and a bare hand. Before the retrival of the lost memories comes the urgent survival in this split world full of factional conflict and roaming hostile creatures.
Marked by the Greek mythology, Troy Online enriches its gameplay with many a familiar character and creature out of it, such as the Crete Labyrinth trapped the children-devouring Minotaur and fighting heroes like Hector, Achilles and Amozons, all serving in-game NPCs.
Besides the grand, mythological back story, various supporting systems featuring equipment crafting, collectable items and armor combinations have done their bits to make an in-depth and diversified MMO. And instant dungeon groups or varied guilds allow for cooperative party play. Yet on the top, it is the wide range of battlefields and PvP settings that outweigh as the core play.
In-game PvP mode varies from one to another by combat objectives and tiered levels, which offers different gaming experience for players with different minds. For instance, strategy-oriented players may delve into the Gate War or Relic War, while gamers favoring quick, spiffy action can indulge in the Total War. And the war scale is ranging from 50-versus-50 to 300-versus-300. While grand battlefield brings about satisfactory hack-and-slash in quantity, it is beget by a lagging issue that greatly damps down gaming spirits. And such issue is still worked on.
Nine types of playable classes is of now on the option list, including Warrior, Berserker, Guardian, Hunter, Assassin, Ranger, Mystic, Warlock and Mage. Different as each surely should be, the character development is criticized by some players for its soft features and silly animation. By the way, the bursting big flashing numbers or words after a blow or missed one also render the graphic messy and low-end.
