Middle Ages is the period of darkness and disorder, appealing to many players for its warfare. Now Lord of Ages portrays a miniature of empires’ rise and expansion in Middle Ages with realistic graphics. Only when the empire is almighty enough can players compete with others and finally become a Lord of Ages.
Lord of Ages is a free-to-play, browser-based MMORTS that has taken some common concepts from Evony, Senatry, and Caesary, including buildings, heroes, army units, etc. In the game, players set up a city by collecting resources, upgrading structures, more importantly, recruiting troops and researching technologies.
Given the fundamental role resources play in almost every activity, it is advisable for players to give prority to building resources fields, especially sawmills and iron mines, and meanwhile take as many quests as possible to win resources as reward. As soon as the resources are sufficient to support the routine consumption, players can then enlist various units ranging from scouts to catapults in barracks while conduct scientific researches to reinforce the army power in academy. Further, players must keep a dogged defense of the city so as not to being occupied by others. In order to fortify the city, players can take advantage of defensive walls which provide traps, abatises, archer towers and other obstacles.
After players have built military forces as well as city defense, they are able to attack wildness like swamps and caves or other cities for online players. If players want to wage war more easily, they can recruit heroes who will enhance the attributes of units, such as attack, defense, speed, flexibility, etc. Also, forming an alliance of level 1 or above is a win-win situation, which not only increases the firepower of troops, but also prevents the city from attack.
Without constant upgrades added to it, the gameplay of Lord of Ages is gradually reduced to repeptitive monotony after a certain amount of time. So far, it only attracts those who play strategy MMO as a way of relaxing.
